View decoded METARs, TAFs, and a 10-day general forecast. Generate a PDF briefing that combines graphical forecast charts, color-coded METARs/TAFs, and NOTAMS for your route. Thoughtfully organized Imagery view puts a full range of forecast tools at your fingertips.

PROCEDURES, CHARTS, & MAPS
ForeFlight’s state-of-the-art map engine gives the app its signature speed and fluidity when panning and zooming. The data-driven Aeronautical map uses Jeppesen’s global navigation data to depict waypoints, airports, airspace, airways, arrival/departure procedures, circuits, holds, no overfly areas, and more to support VFR and IFR flying in Europe.

The Europe geo-region includes IFR high and low enroute charts, procedure charts and AIP documents provided via EUROCONTROL. Optional add-ons include Jeppesen IFR charts and airway manuals, Jeppesen VFR procedure charts, and a wide range of optional VFR chart add-ons from DFS, Rogers Data, Air Million, and many others

GEO-REFERENCED PROCEDURES & TAXI CHARTS
Procedure and taxi charts support real-time display of your GPS location on the chart. They can also be overlaid on the Maps view along with weather and hazards for the ultimate situational awareness.

GLOBAL HAZARD AWARENESS TECHNOLOGY
Plan and fly with more confidence in all conditions and terrain. Top-down-view Hazard Advisor map layer, Terrain Profile View, and 3D Synthetic Vision seamlessly integrate into the map display to depict a clear picture of terrain and obstacle hazards anywhere in the world. When paired with an AHRS source, Synthetic Vision provides a backup attitude display.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES INCLUDE:
Built-in documents catalog with AIP documents covering all of Europe
Mass & Balance calculator
Glide Advisor
Automatic chart and data updates

Pros and cons of ForeFlight Mobile EFB app for iPhone and iPad

ForeFlight Mobile EFB app good for

Im an (german) VFR PPL and I got my license in 1994 from the Stanford Flying Club. I used ForeFlight during a long cross country flight from Fayetteville (KFAY) to Westchester County Airport (KHPN) north of NYC. To give an executive summary first: ForeFlight brings aviation to the next level of flying. The software provides (besides others) a full coverage of VFR sectionals stitched together to one big map. TACs are worked in to it. I used it for flight planning and in flight for enroute navigation. I prepared all airport plates and was so able to easily find all frequencies, runway and taxi way layouts and weather conditions even enroute on one (!) device paperless. The positioning on the map by GPS of my iPad was sometimes off of estimated some hundred feet even so the precision was shown by 10 meters. The maps sometimes seems not to be perfectly geo-referenced. I never found that a problem though. We avoided a restricted area (R-4005) and the controller got nervous since we "where just half a mile away from the border" clearly manageable with ForeFlight. The software is very intuitive to handle. Enroute changes can be applied with the tip of your finger. Weather data (radar and sat and many others) can be overlaid to the maps. An extremely helpfully feature. Even if 3/4G coverage aloft is only occasionally and at rather low altitude available one can update the data from time to time e.g. in a stop over. Over all for me as a rather inexperienced pilot ForeFlight is a affordable revolution. But also my co-pilot and >5000 hours CFI was impressed and plans to sign in to ForeFlight for his professional work. An also strong plus is the highly responsive support of the company. All (also newbee) emails were answered within 15 minutes. Strong plus for me. Im still on a trial account witch worked just fine. Overall: must have. Im looking forward to the next versions may be with digitized maps with flexible rendering (e.g. show airspace only). Dr. Michael R. Alvers
The app itself is awesome! Live weather, NOTAMs and airport info. Everything works smooth. BUT BE AWARE: you are reminded 6 weeks off the end of your membership. If you extend it right away, it starts from that date on and not from the end of the membership!!!
I agree Canada is far over priced at this time. Give me a reasonable explanation why its so expensive and I may be willing to pay for it. Otherwise no go.
Obviously its no good if you are vfr in Canada, but vfr in the states is amazing. With wifi and cellular off, it still gives you an amazingly accurate visual display of your location and route. I just used fbo wifi to update weather and ceilings along my route at each fuel stop. Pretty much the number 1 reason I bought an iPad, and I feel absolutely no remorse. IFR in Canada is also great, but I havent flown IFR in the USA with it yet, so Ill withhold judgement for now.
I find this a lot better value than Jeppesen. They are TC approach plates with the expiry date marked. The only thing missing is GFAs. I paid $400 for the Jeppesen plates and now I find I use Foreflight all the time. Yes there is better for VFR but IFR I find it great.
Please please please Canada VFR charts!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will buy if you include Canada!!!! Transport Canada certification wouldnt hurt either:-)

Some bad moments

I have installed and purchased 1y plan for this App, which, in itself is very good, however, being in Europe, it is of NO use for me... En route VFR charts for europe are inexistant, most of airports are not implemented, and in the air, no 3G for the openmaps that requires it. Maybe one day??
Appears to be excellent value for USA aviation. As for Canada toooo much for what you get in comparison. Is the problem NavCanada? FltPlan for the iPad works OK for me. Until such times as the pricing is reflective of value Ill retain what I have. Thanks for the opportunity.
Will vfr charts be available for Canada any point ? Good for certain things in Canada but why bother spending money if your not getting a package worth using Include vfr charts and continue to upgrade this product then it will be worth purchase
The app is giving me notification messages that I cant clear because I am not renewing my subscription. I was initially excited when I saw that digital VNC data was FINALLY available for Canada but $150 per year is far too expensive if your needs are only VFR and recreational flying. Congratulations to foreflight for being the first but Ill wait for a more reasonable price or another provider.
While you can make in-app purchases to get your subscription you can’t do an upgrade in-app. I tried to add USA to the Canadian charts and the Canadian one got deactivated with no warning. I’ve paid for the charts for both countries and that’s what I should be getting.
Need to fix the freezing issue will not renew my subscription and will go somewhere else if not
