ForeFlight Mobile EFB App Reviews

Great, even for students

The Canadian VTA and VNC maps are absolutely brilliant. This app is amazingly simple to use, yet exceptionally powerful. As an early student, it makes my life in the cockpit that much easier. However, the scratchpad needs a serious overhaul; there is no erase, and there is only 1 page of notes, leading to a horrible mess when you have plenty to write. The writing is imprecise, and it seems to average two touches, leading to weird lines if a finger touches the edges on another part of the screen. Otherwise, great app. Well worth the yearly subscription price.

Awesome Aviation App!

We took our first flight today with Foreflight (Canadian Subscription) and we were blown away with the functionality and ease of use with the Canadian NAVCAN VNC, VTA and CFS data. We are so thankful to finally have fully electronic charts available in Canada and we will NEVER go back to paper! Maybe one day we will be able to file a Canadian flight plan? Until then we still LOVE this app! The Canadian subscription is worth every penny so dont wait!

Not great for Canadian Pilots

The app is giving me notification messages that I cant clear because I am not renewing my subscription. I was initially excited when I saw that digital VNC data was FINALLY available for Canada but $150 per year is far too expensive if your needs are only VFR and recreational flying. Congratulations to foreflight for being the first but Ill wait for a more reasonable price or another provider.

Watch your subscriptions

While you can make in-app purchases to get your subscription you can’t do an upgrade in-app. I tried to add USA to the Canadian charts and the Canadian one got deactivated with no warning. I’ve paid for the charts for both countries and that’s what I should be getting.

A Great Advantage in the Cockpit

Ive been using Foreflite for 6 months in the commercial VFR environment. The access to the electronic CFS in our dynamic environment is very helpful. Up to date METAR and TAF, very useful. Support was quick and direct. Well worth the subscription fee.

All you need!

The best and easiest flight planning available for US and Canadian flying! Also many feature rich and easy to use maps with weather radar included! I absolutely love this app, its all you need!

Outstanding

I cant praise Foreflight strongly enough. When I started using it a couple of years ago, it was a great product. But, it just keeps getting better. The imagination of the developers and their amazing feel for what pilots really need makes this THE aviation app. The clear, highly intuitive display and control setup leaves nothing to be desired. Im only left wondering, what can they have left to do and to introduce? I suspect that theres much more to come - and that it will be every bit as impressive as whats gone before. Finally, for Canadian subscribers like myself, let me be clear, Foreflight, in some respects, now offers more north of the border than it does to the south - kudos!

Excellent

Foreflight is notorious for being the standard in mobile flight planning and moving map apps. Their product is truly spectacular. I fly in Canada and the only significant thing foreflight is missing for me is the terminal ifr charts. Being near Vancouver, the lo chart is so congested as to be nearly useless, which is why nav canada released the terminal chart. If foreflight adds that chart to their package, I would be able to get rid of paper completely.

Love the App

Since new update, my VFR chart disappears and will not load!! Never had this problem??!?

Great

I love Foreflight Mobile. The improvements keep coming on a regular basis.... couldnt be happier with this app. Works flawlessly so far.

Freezes alot

Need to fix the freezing issue will not renew my subscription and will go somewhere else if not

Excellent App that just continues to improve

I use this app daily and find very useful. Great support for Canadian users. I use it in both IFR and VFR environments, it works well complete set of charts are available always, VNC, VTAs, LOs, CAPs and CFS Would be nice if you could file a NavCanada flight plan within the application, I believe that feature is being worked on. The Geo Referenced approach plates are excellent for situational awareness while flying an approach. I would like to see the inclusion of T1 terminal chart, or vector based IFR charts for busy airspace.

Flight to Nome AK

On recent flight to Nome from southern BC it performed so well that I am thinking of redoing my panel to accommodate a iPad for any further use the new pack feature is an excellent addition and give you everything you need at a glance , it is certainly a replacement for any GPS moving map

Support for Canada si vers good

We now have full support for Canadian VNC (VFR) charts and geo-referenced approches plates.

Not impressed

Either my email address is wrong (Unlikely) or the password ForeFlight sent to me to log in is wrong. Either way having spent $299 I expect phone support and correct information to be supplied.

Iphone 6 plus issues

First this is a very useful app when Im flying. But it still doesnt support the iPhone 6 plus screen size. And Im very surprise that how bad this app lags in iPhone 6 plus. I only downloaded Alberta maps in the app and it shouldnt lag when Im moving the maps.

Concerned...

I have enjoyed the pay once, get all model to date. But now we are having to pay for additional features. Does this mean that 2 years down the road Im going to be nickel and dimed to death? Dont ruin a good thing, ForeFlight. Pretty slimey move, and a dangerous new direction, as far as Im concerned.

App was good but payment on synthetic ...

The app is pretty good but the way they force you to buy a whole year subscription just to get the "ADD-ON" synthetic vision is rediculous !! I already had a full subscription, why would I have to buy renew the whole thing early to get the $25 add-on. Absolutely the worst option they could have gone with for selling the synth vision add on!

Easy steps from A to B

I have to admit I dont know how I flew without ForeFlight before? Taking time away from flight planning and giving more airtime. :) Cruze Pilot

Canada covered

Easy, intuitive and quick for IFR aswell as vfr flight planning. Everything is now available for Canada. Con: some airports have right hand pattern showed on the general info page while its a left actually. Its been like this for a while. Seems a NavCanada issue but ... must be solved. Some pilots arent looking good into the CFS for flight planning.
