ForeFlight Mobile EFB App Reviews

I love ForeFlight! This app got me enthused about flying again after a long hiatus. I learned to fly in 1995 and flight planning in those days was less than fun. I stopped flying (much) in 2003 but in 2012 I heard about Foreflight and that pilots were using iPads instead of paper. I immediately recognized the benefits of that. it is fun now. Foreflight takes away all the things I hated about paper charts, books of approach plates, the paper A/FD, etc. - and constantly having them go out of date - and provides me with WAY more than I ever had in the old days, instantly. I use a Stratus 2 WAAS GPS/ADS-B receiver and I now have my precise position plus traffic and weather in near real time while Im flying. That is an enormous help. Plus my charts, procedures, and airport data are always up to date and the sectionals and IFR low charts are seemlessly stitched together for the whole US. There is too much good stuff in Foreflight and not enough problems to be significant so I would recommend FF on the iPad to any pilot.

I have used ForeFlight since late in 2014 and am well pleased with it. I recently upgraded from An iPad Mini 2 to a mini 4 and got excellent help from Josh at FF. He also assisted me along with a couple of other associates on my previous iPad. I regularly recommend FF to fellow pilots. Thanks FF!

Great app. Constant updates. You can email them anytime with questions or issues. No need for a bag of plates....ect I use the app GPS and weather with stratus every flight

I have been using this App since 2009 or so and, as American Express used to say, "I dont leave home without it." My only complaint about this app is that I did not write it. I use it for VFR flight planning and VFR flying. I particularly use it for IFR flight planning and inflight. I have an iPad mini and a Ram yoke mount and I bring my approach plates up on the mini. With geotracking, I have excellent situational awareness. As a CFI I can use Foreflight to watch airspace before that becomes important to my students. I log flights with the recorder and enter them semiautomatically into the Foreflight logbook. Their tech support organization is excellent and do really quick service. This is the best aviation product I have ever purchased!

As a longtime user of Foreflight I agree with others that this a terrific app that is supremely useful and enhances real world flight safety - especially for GA pilots. However I can only give it 4 stars because of a bug that has been present for several iterations of the software and has still not been addressed or fixed. When used with the Appareo Stratus II as ADS-B receiver, the aircraft "Ownship" detection is flaky, resulting in constant traffic alerts which are, in fact, my own aircraft; and a mostly constant yellow "warning" icon of another aircraft superimposed on mine. It is distracting and annoying whilst piloting the aircraft which, Im sure, is not what ForeFlight intends but nevertheless has not been addressed/fixed. Otherwise a fine, useful product very much worth the annual subscription.

I have been a Foreflight user since round 1 and just love the product. Recently with the addition of the Logbook module Ive had to contact support twice looking for some clarity to a question Ive had. They have been spot on and immediately responsive to my queries. The app freezes often. I mean like every time I edit a flight plan on the map and then try to pinch or spread the map to see something better. Occasional, unexplained crashes as well. Still the best thing out there!

Ive used ForeFlight for many years, and with the help of my stratus, it has become the ultimate EFB. Ive always liked the basic and easy to use setup, but in my opinion, I think its time to get a new look. Its been the same for as long as I can remember. Honestly no complaints other than that.

Foreflight is great and a perfect tool box for fixed wing pilots. But if your wings spin then get ready to be left behind in this apps down wash. 1. There is no weight & balance for helicopters so after you pay the full price for Foreflight, you will need to buy a W&B app somewhere else and dont expect Foreflight to recommend a safe and tested app...you are on your own. 2. There is no checklist add on or app from Foreflight for Helicopter pilots. Again you will need to go out on your own and find an app, and of course dont expect Foreflight to recommend one that is safe and tested. Its easy to see why Foreflight is so great. It really is a one stop app for all your aviation needs, and if you happen to have a Stratus then the sky is the limit, but for us Helo Pilots we will continue to be left behind as the Red Headed Step Children of the sky. P.s no offense to real red headed step children Im sure you are very nice people. I will continue to use my Foreflight and Stratus 2S with hopes that someday Foreflight will see the need fill the gap between fixed and Helos

My selection of ForeFlight since its coming on scene is perhaps the wisest decision Ive made since I started flying 59 years ago. It is unquestionably indispensable now. Additionally, the product support is absolutely the best. Gabriel

As a Medevac pilot, I use ForeFlight extensively for weather checks, flight planning, briefing and filing flight plans, W&B, etc. No software package is perfect but this is about as close as you can get. Highly recommend and they have phenomenal support!
